This experience is available at 2 locations: The Valley and Sandy Ground

The Valley

The Valley, Anguilla’s capital, is located in the middle of the island. This is where the majority of the island’s governmental agencies are located and, many historic and cultural points of interest. The Valley Walking Tour takes you on a 1.5-hour immersive experience along the 0.5-mile stretch from roundabout to roundabout in The Valley. You will visit 10 points of interest and enjoy local treats, fruits and/or products at the end. Points of interest include: Anguilla’s only Roman Catholic Church, a factory building which once produced cotton, the Old Valley Boy’s School, The People’s Market and more.

Sandy Ground

Sandy Ground is historically, culturally, logistically and “culinary-ly” significant to Anguilla. Sandy Ground, today, serves as the hub for the importation of the majority of the goods needed for the island. It is the location of the Anguilla Summer Festival’s Caribbean Beach Party. It is the starting point for majority of the boat races on the island. It is Anguilla’s nightlife capital and was the location of Anguilla’s main salt pond which was used in the harvesting and exportation of salt. The Sandy Ground Walking Tour takes you on a 1.5-hour immersive experience along Sandy Ground. Learn the history of this tiny village and its regional and international impact. Learn about the salt industry and its role in Anguilla’s development. This tour is perfect for those interested in the Salt Picking Experience while it is out of season. Points of interest include: Sir Emile Gumbs’ Home, Johnnos Beach Stop, the British Post Box, site of the Pumphouse, relics of the salt picking industry and more.

The gentlemen that met us were very friendly and nice. We heard much about the history of the Valley and Anguilla in general. Interesting facts and we learned a lot. I would highly recommend this ‘Valley Walking Tour’. Although I have been to Anguilla many times, there were historical facts I was not aware of. Awesome tour!

Isaac was a fantastic tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and cared deeply about the Anguilla cultural. We learned a lot about the history and interesting facts about the island. Highly recommend this historical walking tour with Quest as we all thoroughly enjoyed our time. Learning about the culture, history and local remedies made our vacation more enjoyable. We also received great recommendations about local restaurants to go to and had the opportunity to enjoy some of the local drink that Clemvio brought us at the end of the tour (which was delicious).

Thank you to Quest and Issac for the incredible tour. His passion and knowledge of Anguilla was evident throughout the tour. I have been on many walking tours – and this is one of the best. I came away understanding the community and people of Anguilla – and having any question we asked answered. It was also evident how connected to the community Issac is – the constant waves and hello’s from people demonstrated his connections.

If you have the chance – this tour is well worth the time and cost and will help you appreciate and embrace Anguilla.

Absolutely loved this tour. While we come to Anguilla for the same reason most tourists – fabulous beaches, wonderful restaurants that run the gamut from beach shacks to fine dining-what really keeps us coming back are all the lovely people we meet. From the first time we visited we had a sense of a distinctive history and culture. This walking tour really confirmed that. Issac was a great guide with outstanding knowledge of history and conveying a genuine embrace of his fellow citizens and current affairs. I would highly recommend this tour as well as any others offered by Quest. Would be great for families .
